Bogdan Bogdanovic

Buddy Hield is the future at SG.

Bogdanovic will need to get stronger, because he will need to log more minutes at SF to get PT next year.

But, in today's "positionless" NBA, there is not much difference between the SG/SF swingman positions.

Buddy has the same body type as Wade who plays quite a bit of SF these days. I think Buddy can split time at SF too.

Yeah he has to get more athletic. Those crossovers and dribble moves won't work on the elite PG's of the NBA.

I'd love to have him though. He is an incredibly efficient scorer that seems to always take good shots.

They work for James Harden. He proves that in control and under the rim pick and roll guards can flourish in a league where minimal contact is allowed.

There was a big difference last night when McLemore was getting roasted by Gallinari early on.

Some guys can tween over to SF and some cannot. All depends on strength. I've yet to see anything that's told me that Bogdan can play SF against any average sized SF with game.

You can get away with playing some SF if you're 6'6. Problem with last night is Ben is 6'4" and Gallinari is 6'10" !!!!

Is this a recent quote from Vlade or from last summer?
I'll point out again that Vlade is Serbian, has a LOT of ties in the Serbian athletic community, and is well regarded throughout the European basketball world. I seriously doubt he acquired the rights to Bogdan without some degree of certainty he would be coming over to the Kings.

Vlade said he's coming... Seems like there's an understanding there.
Hmmmm. Why are we stockpiling SGs then? This in itself could scare him away. Also, the last 2 years we drafted big men. Ones that don't fit with Cousins necessarily, but Vlade said they weren't drafted to replace Cuz. Looks like that's exactly what Pappa G was drafted for. Maybe even WCS too. We never got that stretch 4 Cuz needed.

Buddy is a Shooting Guard, period. At 6'4", he would get killed against SFs.

Bodgan is at least more full size at 6'6" and has a pretty sturdy frame to add on muscle, he could play some SF.

McClemore at 6'5" and more filled out, would also be able to handle some SF, as he has been doing the last month. I still believe that McClemore can play both SF and SG on this team, maybe not SF against 6'10" players, but against the average 6'6" to 6'8" SF, he has held his own this past month.

I won't even pretend to know what's in the mind of Vlade or anyone else in the Kings front office. My crystal ball got shattered recently. :p

Any "new" indications on what his intent is for next year?
Don't be surprised if he stays in Europe! I was VERY confident that he would come over but not sure what impact the shannanigans of trade week had on Bogdan. Vlade is rightly getting killed in Serbian media for his actions and dishonest manner in which he went about things in the last month.

I totally respect your knowledge of Serbia and Serbian news, but not sure how this makes it less likely for Bogdanovic to come over. Every reason he had to come to the states and play in the NBA is still in place in terms of raising his profile breaking into a larger market and so on. It almost seems that since Vlade has lost trustworthiness the worst case scenario is he comes over and gets traded to another team which is statistically likely to be better. Meaning rather than coming over to play for a struggling Kings team he runs the high risk of coming over and being traded to a better team for draft picks and or other valuable Parts. I'm just playing devil's advocate here

I think Malachi can grow into a SF, he has length and he has a frame where he will be able to add good size.

With all due respect, the very reasons why you think Bogdan will come over could not be further from the truth.

I am not talking out of my backside. I have very close ties to Partizan and my cousin's son from Serbia is very close friend with Bogdan. They grew up together. Lived in the same street, went to the same class, played basketball together in underage teams. I have known Bogdan since he was a kid, watched him play from under 15s onwards. I know what makes the kid click and it certainly is not what you mentioned.

Bogdan is a competitor. He wants to come over and play consistently for a GOOD team, a winning team. He didn't want to play for Phoenix last year because of log jam in the backcourt and where team was at in terms of direction it was taking (i.e. Rebuild). He was keen on Kings because he believed that with Boogie (who he is a HUGE fan of), coach Joerger, lack of depth at SG and Vlade at the helm, it was good option to head to Sacramento after his contract is up. Two out of those factors are no longer the case, arguably most important factors in Bogdan's mind.

That is why I am not sure about his intentions. I was before the the latest developments. Bogdan is not really driven by money or as you say raising his profile. He will be getting many offers from big European teams so with him I am not sure what his decision will be now. I think Vlade has a LOT of convincing to do if Bogdan is to be a certainty of coming over for next season.

I'm not aware of how it works when it comes to European prospects, but since we have his draft rights does that mean he has to get our permission before signing with another team in Europe?

No! it means if he decides to come to the NBA he cannot do so as a free agent and he will either sign with the Kings or have his rights traded elsewhere.

I really don't know what his decision will be in a couple of months. Had the Kings kept Boogie and not added a multitude of SGs to the roster, I was very confident that Bogdan would be playing for the Kings next season. As of now I am not convinced it is a foregone conclusion.

Well I'm sorry to break this to you but if Bogdan wanted to come to a good team he wouldn't be coming here next season whether Cousins was here or not.

Well, if not that's fine - maybe his rights can be a useful trade commodity - ought to fetch a first rounder from what I hear. So either way it's good. If he wants to be stubborn and eschew the NBA altogether then I guess you can't win em all.

While you're right, Kings did screw themselves over a bit. We now have a long-jam at SG. Next year, we'll have Hield, Richardson, and Temple. Not accounting for whether or not we'll bring back Afflalo or Ben.
Everyone keeps saying Richardson can play SF down the line, but down the line is not next year. He's barely capable of guarding SGs right now. Temple can play some minutes at SF, but he's more of a SG. So where does this leave Bogdan? Will we play him at the point? Will we play him at SF? Will we make him a focal point on our team?
Not saying that Bogdan is scared of competition, but I think he'd like to be a feature player. I don't know if that happens next year.

Simply start with a 3 guard lineup and hope you aren't facing a SF of the Gallinari mold. The dude is 6'10 with a PF's body. Not many SF's can post people up like that.
All hail the Jazz band.....:D

No he's free to play in Europe as long as he likes. Assumption some people have it still stay in Europe now.

I would assume he made promises to Vlade to play in the trade for his rights. And if that's the case anybody picking him up from the Kings would need some more promises from him.

As hard as it might be for you to comprehend it, this team had a MUCH better chance of being good next season had they not made a brain dead trade in the last week.
The fact that many Kings fans can't see that is troubling. Far too focused on the wrong things and listening to the wrong people.

"Weve been losing for years so it MUST be because Cousins complains so much and has such poor body language on the court. There's no other plausible explaination! Plus, Peaches Napear and Poison complain about it all the time so it just HAS to be true!"

Oh, and lest we forget that Cousins has Jedi mind control powers that causes professional players to play so poorly while in Sacramento, despite the fact that many of them have washed out elsewhere too.
