Four in a row (so far)

Hey, I'm digging the 4 in a row, but let's not pretend that these were solid wins.

They had no business winning vs the Hawks. That was just one of those games were everything went their way down the stretch, and the Hawks crumbled. And the Lakers easily could have pulled this out if they simply had watched any tape to see how other teams have been neutralizing Demarcus somewhat, or if they had corralled either of those defensive rebounds the Kings stole the last minute.

This season is on the knife's edge still, and two bounces of the ball differently, these games would have gone 2-2.

Let's enjoy the fortune, but let's not think they've turned some corner yet, or they've solved their problems yet.
Criticizing the Kings for their 4-game streak is ridiculous. Sure they barely squeaked by ATL and LAL, but they did so without a back-up PG (Lawson), without second most talented player (Rudy), without their best perimeter defender (Temple), with two old geezers with bad defensive mobility running on fumes (Affalo, Barnes), and two guys left for dead (Willie, Ben) rising from the grave and playing instrumental roles.

For anyone playing faintest of attention, this is quite an impressive feat! For even the optimistic fan, this is quite the pleasant turn of events after the disastrous home stand 1-6 (with bad losses to Heat and Pacers).

The team stayed together amidst this disappointment and kept competing. The most impressive aspect IMO besides Boogie playing MVP caliber (minus the turnovers and the techs), besides Darren becoming legitimate #2, is the team does a very good job of running their offense. There is a precision to the their execution which enables them to get good shots. They don't always go in but they are generating good looks. There is a collective confidence if they run their plays like they've practice a quality shot will be there no matter who takes it.

This is testament to Joerger and guys for dedication and commitment to the structured offense and trust in its efficacy. Your criticism and dismissal occurs within this context. It is also not lost on me you were highly critical and dismissive of Willie, Ben and Koufos before the season even began. So it is not surprising that you would be hesitant to give credit to a group of players that includes guys you were ready to toss onto the scrap heap of failed tenured Kings.

Willie is balling. Ben is balling. Koufos has been shooting over 60% for the last two and half months. The Kings are winning without a back-up PG, without their best defender, and with their best player on the verge of suspension every time he takes the court. No matter who the competition, the fact the Kings are finding ways to compete and win is damn impressive. I am far more inclined to commend the team and coaches for performance in these circumstances than discount it as you are want to do.

1) It's quite ironic that you are criticizing someone for criticizing the Kings.

2) I didn't criticize the Kings.
I explained why my optimism is restrained, based on the 2 one-point lucky wins (Demarcus' words) and us fans' long-suffering history of disappointment.

3) It sure is a good thing different fans can take differing approaches to this team, huh?

I get the restrained optimism. I'm on that boat too. But consider that their losses, which prevents this thread title being "Seven in a row (so far)," were 2 last minute/second unlucky losses.

I don't have a problem with criticism of SAC if it is valid. It is invalid criticism I take an exception to. The excerpts from your posts I perceive as invalid criticisms:

They had no business winning vs the Hawks.... the Hawks crumbled... the Lakers easily could have pulled this out if.... let's not think they've turned some corner yet.....or they've solved their problems yet.
These above comments discredit SAC for their effort and execution with limited rotation. It amounts to saying they were lucky, when rather they put themselves in position to win, and did enough to hold on, when in the past with a full squad they have imploded against comparable opponents. It would be more accurate to say SAC has overachieved during this stretch with even Barnes getting maximum mileage from his declining skill set. Affalo has made key shots. Ben and Willie look like completely different players and Collison is playing like a star. And Boogie does whatever he wants when his mind is right.

The sum of these performances would lead any astute fan to be relatively gleeful over turn of events when the season appeared on the brink. Your tempered enthusiasm reflects a fan unlikely to be complimentary unless the rotation you have envision with Tolliver as a starter sans Ben, Willie and Koufos in the rotation transpires. This fixed mindset and narrow vision prevents from you what seeing what is, and that is team playing scrappy ball worthy of kudos.

EDIT: By the way we tried Tolliver as a starter, and it didn't work!
