We have 1 nba starter on the roster, 3-4 guys who might be out of the league in a year or two(Affalo,Barnes, Casspi) 2 bench players (Temple,Koufos) Collison/Lawson might get 2nd string run in some spots but that is about it the rest are busts or kids.
OK, Matt is 36, and 31-year-old Aaron has been struggling a bit in the last 3 years,
but you do realize Casspi is 28, and coming out of his best carrier season, right? o_O

Had to bump this thread for the simple reason that the Kings are now 11-15 on the road -- including a couple recent near misses against Chicago and Indiana that could have put them at .500.

If/when a team can play .500 ball on the road, it's realistic to expect them to be a playoff team. The Kings are getting closer to that elusive .500 road record.

In short, if the team could somehow figure out how to take care of business AT HOME -- we'd all have something to look forward to.

Who will you root for tonight?

Portland vs Philadelphia???

Playoffs vs Pick swap???
If we finish outside the bottom 10 we give the pick to Chicago and there is no swap, right? And that is the end of the swap period?

I want Philly to lose just in case... but I don't see the Kings finishing bottom 10 they way they are playing right now.

We will see. Obviously we want to make the playoffs, but if it comes to a point when we know we not going to make it, then I'd like to see us try to keep the Chicago pick. This team could really use another impact player who can create a shot.

correct. no more swaps after this season. As far as Philly goes it would be the 2019 unprotected afterwards.

So this morning Denver in 8th, Portland 1 game out, Sacto and New Orleans 2.5 out, Minny 3.5

5 teams for 1 slot, all teams won last game, sure getting crowded!!

Kings have 3 games left vs Denver, and 2 vs Pels and Wolves each - they will decide a lot. Unfortunately Kings lost the season series vs Blazers, 1-2, and that coupled with a very easy schedule for Portland the rest of the way is very worrisome.

Come on. We're talking about our Kings. It's always gonna be "very worrisome." We could be in the #4 slot by 4 games with only three games left in the season and I'd still be chewing my fingernails. :p

Record has no bearing if we don't make the playoffs. Have to wait till the lotto is done to determine draft position.

As of right now Kings are 19-28. The next 10 games are tough. But it is not out of the question to go 5-5. Then we are at good place. 8 of the next 10 are at home. The toughest team is the Spurs. We play the Nuggets three times, the Jazz and Hornets. If the Kings really take this seriously they could go 9 and 1. But 7-3 is probably more realistic. The next 10 I can see 6-4. Then close out the season at 2-3. that leaves us at 39-43. If we can win a couple of game we aren't supposed to win then we are at 500.

20 Home Games Left

13 Road Games Left

The Kings are playing 20 of the last 33 games at home. They need to take care of business at home to have any chance at the playoffs.

So far, they are only 8-13 at home, which is not good. They actually have a slightly better winning percentage on the road so far this year at 11-17.

They really need to pull out at least a 15-5 record at home the rest of the way to have any chance at the playoffs.

Hall of Famer
The above is a visual of how every team stacks up on offense and defense heading into February.
which is quite frightening to look at to say the least, yuck...even when the Kings were ranked in the top 10 for PPG with pitiful defense, that was a mirage because it wasn't a "good" offense but more so a run and gun style which inflated stats.

Home Sour Home

It really is all about finally establishing homecourt for us now. We have the road record of a low level playoff team (actually we have a better road record than 4 of the 8 Eastern Conference playoff teams, including the #4 seed 28-20 Wizards). We have the home record of a 20 win team. here is how our home/road record compares in the Conference:

Road Records, By Percentage:
1) GSW .833 20-4
2) SAS .800 20-5
3) HOU .621 18-11
4) UTH .565 13-10
5) LAC .542 13-11
6) MEM .520 13-12
7) OKC .444 12-15
8) SAC .393 11-17
9) DEN .375 9-15
10) MIN .318 7-15
11) POR .308 8-18
12) DAL .280 7-18
13) PHX .280 7-18
14) NOH .272 6-16
15) LAL .192 5-21

Home Records, By Percentage:
1) GSW .875 21-3
2) HOU .782 18-5
3) SAS .739 17-6
4) OKC .727 16-6
5) LAC .708 17-7
6) UTH .654 17-9
7) MEM .640 16-9
8) POR .583 14-10
9) DEN .522 12-11
10) NOH .481 13-14
11) LAL .480 12-13
12) DAL .478 11-12
13) MIN .462 12-14
14) SAC .381 8-13
15) PHX .345 8-15

You can see all our competitors are right around .500, for POR and DEN, a bit above. With our superior road work, if we could reach that level at home, we are in a good spot. And now that sweet spot is here. We don't leave California for a solid month. We are home and home and home, and take just a few little jaunts around the state. Unfortunately we do it now without our #2, and who knows how long without our best defender.

Which is highly unlikely given the fact that 15-5 would be the best stretch of 20 games the Kings have ever had since Cousins has joined the team. In fact the last time the Kings saw that much success in a 20 game stretch at home, Ron Artest was still Ron Artest and he was on the team. Something tells me they won't be breaking that streak given the fact they are reeling in the last 18 games with a 5-13 record. Kings going from worst basketball of the season to best basketball in 10 years? I kinda doubt that.

Only way I can see this team making the playoffs is if we make at least one trade (Koufos & Collison?) and get these youngsters some burn. Richardson/Skal and wouldn't it be something if even Papagiannis got on the court and contributed a little.
