Time to build a lengthy losing streak (split)

it's time to begin the youth movement, let's give Skal and Malachi playing time at the very least. I can wait on Papa for another season. Cousins says they will play for Rudy the rest of the season but regardless, it's time to build a lengthy losing streak and spiral back to where we have always belonged, the lottery.

It is a bummer to say the least. I am happy a lot of vets can be let go at the end of the season though. We really need a fresh start.

No, no, no, no, no.

Complete wrong direction. In every way. Our path is now to change the culture, show ❤️, grow some ⚾️⚽️ and do it our gd selves. No time to fiddle with draft luck. We have to learn to overcome challenges and forge a winning mentality that will inspire free agents to want to come to this awesome city.

Contrary to some people's ideas, we have most of the elements that good FAs want. Great city, good weather, new arena, stable front office, MVP-contend level player, one of the games best young coaches.

I promise you, if you want the less risky way, we do this ourselves, and attract John Wall and/or Eric Bledsoe. At this time, Cuz and Coach and even Vlade if he has to, must absolutely step up behind the scenes and let these guys know we are in it to win it. Speaking personally, Cuz is exactly the type of player I'd love to play with, because HE WANTS TO WIN.

This is how you earn it.

Forgive me if I discount the optimism from the guy who said we'd win 50 games :p

With Philly playing much better of late and Simmons possibly returning, if the Kings finish top 7 and Sixers finish outside the top 10, the swap would occur. Would the Kings pick then go to the Bulls?

I like and appreciate your optimism, I do. However, I am simply wanting to lose to retain the draft pick for this draft because this team desperately needs more talent and what better way to do it than through draft? If the Kings stay pat and make zero moves, that alone will result in a lottery selection IMO. It may be best to keep the roster intact as is, unless you can acquire a young player or draft pick. Otherwise, play Malachi and Skal 10-15 minutes a game and see what they can do. It won't hurt one bit. We can revisit this after the road trip if you'd like and maybe by that time, the Kings will be 12-15 games under .500

Lol.

You got me. I'm busted for being an optimist.

However studies show that optimism wins. Why? Because optimists see more opportunities where others don't. So I'm optimistic for very practical reasons.

Success has to start somewhere. Most reliable place to count on it is in one's own heart. Like Ali said, there was never a champion who didn't believe in himself.

If you are optimistic, you might fail. But if you are pessimistic, you will fail.

Ummmm....the losing streak began 2 weeks ago. Team is way ahead of you.

Guys, if we don't convey our lottery pick to Chicago this year then that pick turns into a second round draft pick next year? Is that right?

OK, but let's just wait until after the Grizzlies game tonight, for Rudy (#ForRudyGay).
...and after the two games with the Bulls & the Pistons (those are reasonably winnable).
...and the game with the Cavs (for Omri).
...and the Indy game (payback).

You know what? Let's not.

Couldn't agree more! Go Kings!

It turns into this year's second rounder if it does not convey.
Thanks, that's all the more reason to just develop the Rookies and keep our draft pick this year. Losing Gay to injury killed his trade value potential AND also ate into our projected cap space for free agent signings in the office season. Our only real hope for improvement are our rookies, our draft pick, and perhaps a moderate free agent signing.

Rudy's value was not all that high due to his plan to opt out. Though Rudy is a good player, half a season limits his value. The Kings still have players with good trade value. Koufos and WCS being two on good contracts with value. Collison and Omri are on expiring deals but have some limited value as they could help a team this season. Some GM may want to try McLemore in a new setting. So all is not lost if the Kings want to pursue a trade.

I think I heard the Kings are 5 and 6 without Rudy so all is not lost as far as winning games. Joerger may decide to play two Bigs all the time and play three guards. Maybe Malachi will get some minutes.

My prayers and good thoughts go out to Rudy.

Does anyone know how the pick swap works with regards to the Chicago pick?

The Chicago pick obligation is currently Top 10 protected.

Let's assume the Kings finish 8th and Philly finishes 12th.

The Kings would have the 12th pick via Philly. Would this pick then be conveyed to Chicago, or is the Top 10 protection solely on the King's 8th pick selection.

Just win. I still have faith that we can swing a positive trade worth some value. We have moveable pieces and and underutilised resources in casspi and the youth.

As the Captain very articulately explained, the Chicago obligation will be fulfilled FIRST, so in the scenario you described, the Bulls will only get our 2ND round pick, because our 1st round pick would be protected.
Only AFTER that one is settled, will we get our 1st round pick swapped with Phily's, so even if it DOES end up being #12, it would NOT go to Chicago, but remain ours to keep.
