Losing Rudy is why we lost *THIS* game. Clearly the guys were gutted after seeing what happened.

It really wouldn't shock me to see the team play slightly better without Rudy though. They've already proved they can play better team ball without him, and with him guaranteed to be out for the season the team will grow together.

Will the they be .500 and fight for the playoffs? Hell no. But losing Rudy doesn't mean they're a 5 win team through the rest of the season.
After having seen year after year of kings teams starting the year with effort only to lose a string of close games then commence to not give a crap I wish I could have that same outlook. What you outlined is the best case sceneario and I applaud your optimism but, Most likely what will happen is we will stop seeing any type of defense and start seeing a bunch of guys trying to show out and stay in the league somehow. I hope im wrong and this group is different but dam this situation sure has all the makings for it.

That never was reported
Yes it was.

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nba/305351/report-vivek-ranadive-wants-to-keep-rudy-gay (from Sept. 24, 2016)

"Despite Gay making it abundantly clear that he wants out and has no faith in the front office—we don't blame him for that stance—Ranadive isn't willing to give up on an attempt to retain him. Per Woj, Sacramento's owner believes Gay is a "vital talent," and he's told "associates that he believes he can change Gay's mind this year and persuade him to stay." It's hard to comprehend how Ranadive remains so far distanced from reality, and an argument could be made that this franchise has the most dysfunctional front office in the entire sport."

You're welcome.

As a matter of fact, there is a buyout provision in the CBA. The question is whether we do it or not.
Well I guess this is just another thing to make it an interesting summer. I seem to recall some talk of minority owners not wanting to fire Karl last season and have multiple coaches on the pay roll. Now we could possibly need to buy out Rudy and give Cousins a near quarter-billion dollar contract. I hope the economy stays hopeful and Vivek is willing to show everyone how much he wants to win.

Jed's actually on quite a roll imo with Shanahan hire plus one of the Packers execs - so it looks like Vivek can have sole claim to "worst owner in sports"
That's true. I thought for sure he would hire Tom Cable, but he appears to have done right.

For the thread "What are the Kings good at?" we now have the worst owner in sports.

I remember when Vlade made the Sixers trade the narrative was "calm down, the Sixers will be garbage for years and we are pushing for the playoffs". Guess what the pick swap looks like it will convey THIS YEAR. Jesus Christ.
this trade could end up being more vile than the Nets trade for garnett. They at least made the playoffs.

That swap right is going to bite the Kings in the butt. The Kings can't be content just to play the kids and finish Bottom 5. The 76ers are only 1.5 games behind us and have won 7 of 10. They have every incentive to go for 8th seed with all the enthusiasm being generated with Embiid and their long playoff draught. And if they fall short they have every incentive to finish better than us, something I am sure their coach and GM will remind them of.

Wow... the one who said things with no grounds got nothing while all my posts are removed. Must be because I voiced and called him out, that makes me the troublemaker. I understand the sentiment for stopping the argument, but I can't be the only one feeling punished in the end.

Thanks, Kingsfans.com. So long.

A 1-6 home stand. Lost 7 of the past 8 at home. Now they go on an 8-game roadie.
What a quick end to a season. The "easier" schedule come February isn't likely to matter much now.

Bummer.

I deleted more than just your posts. I also deleted those posts that led to your comments. If I missed one, it's because I didn't feel like going back more than two pages.

EDIT: I deleted SIX of his, FOUR of yours and ONE of one other poster. So if you feel you're the "only one feeling punished" that's on you.

Will Vivek ever have his Jed moment? It took Levi's being half empty and Jed being called the worst owner in the NFL to finally pull his head out of his arse. I don't think it's in Vivek to admit that he's wrong.

Personally, I think Jed's head is still firmly entrenched in his posterior. Though that's a talk for another thread.

I thought the curse would end once the Kings moved out of the old burial ground at Arco, looks like the curse has followed the Kings to Golden One Center. :(
Looks like it wasn't the burial ground after all... :(

NOTE: The discussion of "done playing games with Cousins" has been split out of this thread.

****, what an awful injury for Rudy. Guy was playing his heart out and dominating Paul George....and ends up the game like this?

Kings need to rebuild at this point. You know what the sucky thing is? Kings are 16-25, losing 8 of their last 10. Philly is 14-26, winning 7 of their last 10.
That crapty pickswap really has a chance to convey this year. I imagine the Sixers will only get better once they get Ben Simmons healthy.

This is horrible. We decide not to trade Rudy Gay who made it clear that he would not resign. Instead, we kept him...only to have him have a career-shifting injury. We lost our 2nd best asset, AND our 2nd best player, by far. We're not better without Rudy. If you take Rudy off our team, who fills in the scoring? Cousins? 40pts/game?

Playoff hopes are dead. Maybe being 3 spots out of 8th seed will finally help the FO see what needs to be done for the remainder of the season.

We can compete without Rudy, but we can't win without him.
