Questions for Coach Joerger

#6
Last season when you were coaching the Grizz and Lee hit that last minute shot, do you think the time was expired? :D Just kidding I love Coach Joerger. My favorite aspect of the way Coach carries himself is how he does not get too high or too low about the wins and losses. he just stays very fact based and in the here and now.

Here's a few:

Are you running the same defensive scheme you did the last 3 years in Memphis? If so, why do you think the team has been so inconsistent on that end?

"Is the prevalence of the three point shot forcing any changes in your defensive philosophy?"

"The power forward position on this team has been unsettled for years, what style of player would you ideally like to see slotted in next to Cousins? A second offensive player like you had with Zach in Memphis? A defender/shotblocker type? A stretch 4?

1. Has he settled on a rotation yet? Is he still experimenting with it? 2. Does he think the team can compete without any one player? 3. How has he gotten the bench to compete so well at times? 4. Does he think we have a shot at the playoffs. 5. How does he like it here in Sacramento? Does he see himself here for awhile?

"Please, for the love of God, Coach - look at the game film, look at the stats - the Kings play best with Temple.
Why don't you play him as many minutes as he wants or can stand?"

How would you rate Willie's development this season? Why does he struggle like this? What are your plans with him moving forward? What are the next steps for him in order to get some minutes? Which areas does he have to work on the most?

My biggest questions are

1) 3 point defense and players sagging off the guy in the corner to "help" either on a post up (regardless of who the player posting) or to swipe at a driver, constantly giving up the easiest wide open 3 point shots. Why not just stay home and defend the passing lanes since this is what the majority modern offenseses WANT and WISH you did.

2) Ball movement and player movement. Players jog and move slowly without the ball when Cousins and Rudy are on the floor. Are they held responsible for this? Recently Cousins has seemed to be looking to make the Pass more and this has been bearing fruit. Is this intentional and a focus of the coaching staff? Why is Rudy not doing the same? Instead once he gets the ball he rarely looks to pass? Is this intentional?

So im in the consensues about know more on what the coaches Xs and Os for denfensive strategy they are teaching in regards to 3pt defense. Is other teams success against us on players not yet able to execute this defensive strategy or is the defensive strategy to blam?

Do you think you will ever be able to match the 9-6 GOAT mark set by Mike Malone, Karl last year matched it but due to having to make adjustments since he had a better roster/easier schedule/not as much bias refing it did not count what mark do you think you would have to set (e.g 12-3) to be ranked up there with the 9-6 GOAT?

Karl's team matched the defense played in those 15 games? I don't remember it that way:D

one question off the top of my head I would have for George Joerger would be how does he plan on adapting to the new era of basketball with defensive and offensive schemes, to what extent will he change his ways or will he remain a half court oriented offense rather than buying into the shooting 30+ three point field goals.

Do you plan on encouraging Cousins to add more versatility in his post game in case the jumpshot is not falling or teams play faster and smaller guys on him?

Where's Sactownfan at?

This is his big chance!!

(That was a question for the forum, not Joerger. ... and I know everyone knows that, I'm just trying to stay one step ahead of the "snarks in the grass"!)

For Joerger:

*Seinfeld voice*

"What's the deal with giving Barnes all those minutes?"

*Seinfeldian bass line*
Sactownfan will live on
