Spurs @ Kings 10/27 Predictions

#1
The line is currently saying the Spurs are favored by 8.5 points on the road.

Who wins? Thoughts?

(Feel free to merge this when the official threads are ready. I just made this for the early birds like me)

Well the Spurs dominated the Warriors Tuesday night and have been resting up in Northern California while the Kings flew to Phoenix played the Suns and flew back. But it is a short flight in the same time zone and Joerger limited the minutes. Lawson did play 35 and Gay 33. Boogie only played 24 minutes due to foul trouble. The Fellas should be ready to rumble:)

I liked the way Joerger managed the game in Phoenix. Starting Koufos but subbing in Barnes to stifle Dudley. Also the Bench was solid. The group that played the last part of the 1st quarter went on a 16 to 1 run. It was Temple, McLemore, Barnes, Tolliver and WCS. I love that line up:) All good defenders, no one under 6" 6". This group dominated the Suns bench of Knight, Barbose, Tucker, Chriss and Len. Watson did not play that group together in the 2nd half:)

Anyhow that Spurs are manned by 2 current and 3 former All Stars. Their bench is deep and solid. As usual Pop's Coaching is masterful.

The Kings need their "A" Game to win and need a hot shooting night. But even more the Kings need to keep the mental focus on the Defensive End of the floor. With a deep pool of players the Kings have a few fouls to give so defenders can get close to their man.

IMO #1 key point for this and every game is effort on Defense. #2 is keeping the Mental side of the game under control. The Suns were fouling Boogie hard to get under his skin. This will continue.....Boogie must remember to minimize his barking at the officials and seek revenge through the score board. Winning solves many ills:)

GO KINGS, BEAT THE SAN ANTONIO POPOVICHS!!!!!

For those of you who didn't notice, I started a Prediction Game thread yesterday
(it was "exiled" to Fantasy & Games, but still attracted some 20 predictors... :D)

I invite you to join-in and make your predictions for game 2:

It's day 2 (First home game!) in the prediction game.

20 of us KF's participated yesterday, and you can see the ranking after day 1 inside.

This one's against the mighty Spurs, who's just slain the Warriors by 30!

It's the 1st night in our new Arena. Spurs or not, Kings must make it a statement!

San Antonio will help us to assess the Kings' early progress more than the Suns.
The Spurs are going to be tough this year. It will be fun to see the first game in the new arena.

If the Kings win, I'll chalk it up to the conspiracy that they gifted us with an Inaugural Golden One Shiny New NBA Arena win.

But I'm already predicting we'll start 6-0, so I'm being deliberately optimistic at this point. :)

I want to believe, as I will be there and it will be a special night.. But the Spurs were looking like a top 3 team the other night...

We will give them a fight but I think we aren't quite far along yet to get the final result

Spurs 102
Kings 96

Adam Silver attending game, maybe David Stern too I heard. They're just two more SAC-RA-MEN-TO fans among the delirious thousands cheering on upset.

Kings 101
Spurs 99

High scorers: Boogie 32 Leonard 30

The key will be to not let the Spurs take Boogie out of his game from the start like they've been doing the last few times. Coach should have counters lined up so when those double and traps come onto Boogie, he can just go to option 1, 2, 3 etc.

Whenever we play the Spurs, I just hope for a nice competitive loss.

Kings 92

Kawhi is about to destroy Rudy. I think Cuz has a big game tonight though.

Spurs bench vs Kings bench will be key to victory, these aren't the old fart Spurs of yesterday anymore either.. well maybe Ginobili and Gasol but athleticism was never really a barometer of their overall skill.

Spurs are the hardest team to beat for us. They run their sets so well and don't make mistakes. They also have some serious players on their side (Kawhi, Aldridge, Gasol). We will have to play a hell of a game just to have a chance.

I expect Rudy to suck tonight, he has been shut down by Kawhi every single time they have met. Boogie will have to have 30+ points in order for us to have a chance. We will absolutely need to hit our threes tonight too and if we don't, we are done.
