I'm worried we're going to sign Waiters. It's going to be another situation where the SG we bring in can't outplay Mclemore. We tried aggressive and gritty Anderson and pure shooter in Bellineli. Neither role player proved to be what we need. If we go after a SG, it really needs to be a higher quality player. Can't just throw money for the sake of it. If we can't find a real SG, throw that money at PG.

he's a pretty selfish player. don't know how he's gonna fit on the team.

anybody see the contract derozan scored? holy crap 139m.

I'm just thankful that Vlade's at the helm. We aren't getting swept up in max-a-mania trying to "keep up with the big boys," and should still have some good options once the dust settles. Rondo will be much easier to bench if he isn't making max contract money, and we still don't know the specifics of Collison's situation. I had hoped for Jordan Clarkson or Jeremy Lin, but those ships have sailed and it's not the worst thing in the world to keep the two PG's we already have. In Vlade We Trust.

Wait till you see Conley. Conley is going to get 30+m/year and he won't be worth it.

At least DeRozan is a franchise player. Conley has been mediocre for most of his career, and has only started to emerge in these last 3 years. It's arguable that he's not even a top 10 pg.

I'd be willing to bet that Malachi Richardson would put up numbers close to what Waiters will do for us. 39% from the field and 32% from three does not sound appealing to me. It's like trading Belinelli to sign Belinelli v2.0.

I didn't want Lee at all but Lee is head and shoulders better than Waiters.

Waiters isn't as Marco-trocious on defense but his shooting is like Belinelli's but with worse shot selection.

The thing is though, you don't really know if the reason we aren't signing max deals is because Vlade is being smart or if it's because the players getting max deals have no interest in playing in Sacramento whatsoever. I trust Vlade do I hope he's just being smart, but I'll wait to see the contract of the first player we sign to really judge.

I don't want Waiters at all, but if Vlade overpays for him, I'm gonna lose a little of that trust. We have to over pay players to come here, but you don't over pay for someone like Waiters, you do it for players like Crabbe.

I'm still hoping there is a trade afterwards. Sign players to create some depth at a position and then deal Using Koufos, Ben and maybe Gay. If he signs Lee and Waiters and then deals Ben, I can live with that.

Good lord almighty. A significant offer?

Seth Curry is already a better SG than Waiters.
And we already have Ben, whose effectiveness and efficiency have pretty much paralleled Waiters, without the oversized ego. There were reports that Waiters tempered some of his wildness and poor decision-making with OKC, he was finally "getting it", and that's what earned a spot in the playoff rotation. He got 27 MPG on a team that was one win away from the NBA Finals....so, that is something.

A small consolation is that Karl gave his players so much freedom to do what they want....that would NOT work with a player like Waiters. With Joerger, I think he's going to demand smart execution and if not you are earning yourself a seat on the bench. So Waiters under Joerger has a better chance to succeed than Waiters under Karl. I am not sure if this is the agent drumming up interest OR we really want him with SGs higher on our target list having shunned are overtures (Crabbe, Bazemore, Lee, etc). The Kings can NOT go into next season with Ben penciled in as their starter. Waiters is more of a natural scorer, does better job absorbing contact going to the rim, and has better juke moves to beat his man. Ben has the better shot, not as prone to off balance high degree of difficulty heaves. Ben is the better athlete. As defenders both are meh to atrocious.

In other news, with Lin signing 3/36, the market for Rondo just dried up, possibly from two teams (Nets, Kings) to one.

It's not BS. Yahoo had their own streaming show last night and I think that's where he said it. They announced deals on the show before anyone tweeted it out.
I do not doubt they said something... and they stay so firmly behind it that folks from the show either removed the tweet or decided not to leave written proof.
Of course I might have missed the link where the famous 14 mil for Waiters was offered. Can you find that link?

I guess this could be good news in our pursuit of Crabbe

A person with knowledge of the Blazers' plans says their intention is to go after both Chandler Parsons and Dwight Howard.
If the Blazers use their cap space on Howard and Parsons, that's at least 40 million in starting salary next season, which has to be most of their cap space. I'd offer Crabbe 4/60 million and I'd have done so at 12:01 AM....quit stalling Vlade.

At this point, I think it is pretty much a given we are going to re-sign Rondo unless he doesn't want to play here. Most PG's are gone. Unless we are trading? Rondo and Waiters...Ugh
