IMO, Ellis balances the starting line up better, but Monk is more electric in offense. If we went with Monk's offense over Ellis's defense in the starting lineup, we need to put in a defensive/shot blocking big next to Sabonis to erase mistakes in defense.

Sucks. Naz Reid was who I wanted the Kings to throw their cap space at last summer before Free Agency began. Too bad he re-signed with Minnesota even before the free agency period began. He could had been the big, long 3 point shooting big the Kings needed next to Sabonis.

Monk in the starting line up would work if we are able to get a defensive stud/shot blocker opposite Domas at the 4/5 to balance the starting 5.

“RUN IT BACK!” / Monte needs to fix this.

Domas actually shot 2.6 and 2.3 3pt attempts per game his last 2 years at Indy, but once he got to Sacramento, it's been 1.1 3pt attempts per game. Nikola Jokic has averaged between 2.2 to 3.9 3 pt attempts in his career. Just 2 or 3 more 3pt attempts per game by Sabonis (at a decent percentage)...

[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (Redux)

According to this article, the average NBA coach is paid about $3.5 mil per year, so $5 mil is still above the average: https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/nba/what-is-an-nba-coach-salary-how-much-do-nba-coaches-make-sgc/ Mike Brown may be blinded by some of the new contracts like to Monte...

If that is the case, maybe the Kings should just go ahead and guarantee the 4th year, so that MB doesn’t become a “lame duck coach” next season. Guaranteeing that 4th year may be the best option for all parties to ensure MB has the authority to command the locker room next season. Having a...

Probably not the best timing considering he just missed the playoffs. MB still got 2 years on his current contract, so he is not a “lame duck coach”. Next off season will be the make or break it period. IMO, the Kings would be wise to at least wait to see how next season starts off before...

That's a big injury gamble. He would probably be better off doing a 3 year with a player option for year 4, that many have suggested.

This is the biggest problem for the Kings. Everyone knows that 19.5 mil is the max we can offer, so someone with cap space is going to come in and offer 4 years at $90+mil and see if Monk bites. I'm pretty sure that at least one team will offer Monk more than what the Kings can, so we are going...

Without knowing if Monk is staying or going, Monte may need to hold onto Huerter until the Monk situation is resolved. It would be tough trying to replace both Monk and Huerter's offense and shooting this summer, look at what happened at the end of this season. This sucks because the draft is...

Yup, plus taxes are horrendous in California, without the benefit of the night life that the Warriors and Lakers/Clippers players can enjoy.

Yup, in just about every other season 46 wins would be good for 6th seed or better.

Sacramento not being a FA or trade destination is not MB fault. It has been that way since the Kings have been in Sacramento. I think it’s the perception by young athletes that there is nothing to do or no night life in Sacramento. Sacramento has never been a free agent destination, even during...

Agreed. If there is one thing we know about Kessler is that he is good at defense and he has size. Since we were getting smoked all year by NO longer wings, it would had made sense for MB to give him a shot to try and stop their wings. Nothing else worked, as shown by the Kings 0-6 record vs NO...
