Randolph arrested

I smoke weed every once in a while myself, the fact that its illegal is stupid, but distribution is another story.

Its just not a good look for the team, he was just brought in to mentor. I think the Kings have got to cut him. Or do something with him.

Only considering the framework of our team. A bunch of young guys.

This really sucks. Kk got twice as much. mentor work now. Pretty dumb decision by Randolph.

Lol, "character matters". So much for that, huh? I've always believed that talent is more important anyway, but at this stage of his career Randolph provides neither and if you're going to follow the whole pretty, clean-cut character matters model, Zbo just failed at the one thing he was brought here to do.

Jesus, are people really going to downplay this because it's a veteran "mentor" signed by a front office that we're all hoping succeeds?

He's not here to be our franchise player. He's a guy at the end of his career who was brought in to be a veteran mentor, and he failed at that before training camp even started. And here he is with way too much weed hanging out in the middle of the hood with some shady characters and putting himself in a bad situation. He's being paid millions to set an example (anything he might do on the court is just gravy) and he just failed at that. Quit downplaying this.
Down-playing? I don't think so. "Up-playing" on a lot of other people's part? Yes, I am seeing that. Being in a "bad" neighborhood? What if you grew up there or in a similar place? You shouldn't be there? Shouldn't be with friends that live there? You shouldn't smoke pot with your people? C'mon, let's wait and see what comes of this.

And this, folks, this right here is exactly why I never piped up and said "Oh, Zach Randolph, great signing, veteran leader!" This was a big problem for him in years past. There was a time when he was playing in Memphis and living in Indianapolis that he was considered to be potentially a "drug kingpin" in Indy. (link) I kept my mouth shut on this in the hopes that it was in his past, but evidently that was not the case.

Now he's charged with *felony* possession with intent to sell. We probably have to wait for this to play out in court, but I would not be opposed to finally testing the NBA's "moral turpitude" clause.
And yet, Memphis is retiring his number because of what he has brought to the community there. 2 sides of Zbo.

Reportedly he had 2 pounds on him in a backpack..... Must've been stocking up for the season..

This makes the Kings F/O look foolish.

LAPD officers were called to the Nickerson Gardens area in L.A. around 10 PM -- and when they arrived, cops found a large crowd of people smoking, playing loud music and blocking the roadway.
Nickerson Gardens is.... not a good area... If he's gonna partake in such activity shouldn't he have cronies in his crew handling this??

Signing him always seemed obtuse IMO.

Still it shows bad judgement.
And that is the main problem for me. I'm beyond tired of gazillionaire athletes exhibiting a profound failure of common sense and/or good judgment. What the hell is so hard to understand that you probably shouldn't be standing on a corner with a bunch of other guys handing out a substance that, whether you agree with the law or not, is still CURRENTLY illegal for recreational purposes?

Cut him now! In fact, we need to purge all the veterans from the team, because if you got one bad one, they're all bad!
And any of the younsters who have spent more than 10 minutes with one of the veterans, they've got to go, too!
There can be no tolerance on this matter. Our future, indeed our survival, depends on this great sacrifice. Cut em loose now!

Jeeze, what a bunch of kneejerk drama queens around here...

Oh good. The Kings get, once again, to be the laughing stock of the league. I am NOT a happy Kings fan at this moment.

Moral turpitude may not apply, but there'd better be a "blatant stupidity" clause in the next CBA.

No offense, but your exaggeration of the majority of the reactions is the only drama queen scenario I've seen thus far. Do you honestly believe this is nothing to be concerned about?

I couldn't help myself. Besides, I generally agree with most of that poster's comments.

Hey, I get it. This is a controversial topic for some. To me, it's not about the use of marijuana or whether or not it should be legal. It's about someone who freaking knows better doing something so profoundly stupid I don't know if I can ever look at him the same way again. I prefer the players on my team to have IQs at least higher than their jersey numbers. Of course, Z-Bo put himself at a disadvantage when he chose #50.

Tip: If you post something like this, please include the source of your information. Thanks.
Do you not have access to a search engine? If you think I made it up surely it'd take you about 10 seconds to fact check....

Tip: Type in 'Zach Randolph' and '2 pounds' on Google and you'll find a source.

It's also being reported that 6 cop cars were vandalized in the incident (tires slashed and windows broken), cops needed to form a battle line to restore order. 2 guns, a significant amount of cash and 2 vehicles were impounded.

This picture (part of a video) is also floating around of him being released.

There's pictures of the smashed up cop cars but they've got a middle finger emoji on them so I'm gonna not post em here.

If you have lost for ten years straight maybe on some counts you should be the laughing stock of the league. Zbo is not going to make us the laughing stock and if so I don't care. I don't care about "laughing stock" I do care about losing hopelessly.

Congrats Zbo you turned stupid up to 11. It's like you called your attorney and asked "What is the stupidest crime I could commit that might result in jail time.?" "Well I guess since yo now live in a state where MJ is legal you could buy 2 lbs, and carry it around. It would be too little to be worth much financially but would be just about enough to get the prosecutors attention, and maybe even the Feds now that AG Sessions is trying to make a statement about MJ.On the bright side if the Feds prosecute then you can do you time in Lompoc... so there is that."

Here's TMZ video of ZBO being released from jail. If ZBO hangs around idiots like the big guy at the end of the video, we should just cut our losses.

I voted for marijuana to be legalized. I think a backpack of weed should be no different than a cooler full of beer. I was in law enforcement for almost ten years, and although I have these personal opinions of marijuana, you have to obey the laws and have a leg to stand on when speaking and mentoring younger players as ZBO was brought in to do.

Who you choose to hangout with tells a story, no matter how true that story is. Why he has not learned this at his age, is also a concern.

Dude, it's a standing long-term policy of KF to ask people to include the source when they're sharing information. Not sure why you chose to reply with snark, but it's uncalled for. I wasn't in any way implying you made anything up, so take the chip off your shoulder. Thanks ever so.

I think you're missing my point. For the first time in YEARS, the Kings weren't in the headlines with drama or conflict. We were actually being touted as a team on the rise, ranking #8 in an article about the teams with the best group of players under 25 and something about the brightest futures.

We did not need to have something like this pop up in the news. I can pretty much guarantee you that you may not care but that the front office does. They've worked too hard to improve the team image to have it tarnished by the rampant stupidity of a veteran brought in primarily to mentor youth.

Great post!
This is what I'm pissed about. The kings have made huge strides in righting this ship and changing the atmosphere surrounding this franchise. They did not need this.

old habits die hard, he is a family man, a person who gives to the community on a regular...once he ends up in Sacramento though, it's a whole new story.

Whats uncalled for, lazy and pretentious, is asking people for sources that are readily available and found in a matter of seconds. This isn't some foreign, dated or obscure story, It's being covered by multiple major news outlets, local and national.

I didn't post the source because I'm not an aggregate, I'm not here to inform the board, I'm just here sharing my opinions. If thats not up to your standards, so be it.

I'm wrong for being right here ><. This place is too holier than thou for me. I quit. Y'all run me off this board with your snark, it's not the other way around.

Who cares? I certainly don't. I don't care to see what comes of it because the weed and whether or not it should be illegal. Even if he should or will be convicted doesn't matter to me. He can do what he wants, but wanting to see this played out doesn't actually matter in this context.

I know you'll defend him because you love veterans, but he just made himself worthless to this franchise, conviction or no. The one thing that we expected him to do, and he shows he can't handle it. It's pathetic. We don't have to accommodate him or pay his *** millions of dollars if he's going to be in these situations, and we probably shouldn't. Tough but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
