Just finished watching the first two seasons of Dark Matter on Netflix. Unfortunately on SciFi season 3 episode 1 is highlights only (full episodes from episode 2 on [last 5 shows I think] - why do the stupid networks shoot themselves in the foot like that? I'd watch the show on your website if you had the full season up there!). I am going to have to wait until season 3 is on Netflix to catch up.

Not the greatest show, but somewhat in the vein of Firefly (and derivative of that to a certain extent), but I enjoy it. Interesting premise - a spaceship's crew wakes up in stasis pods to find that their memories have been wiped. They then have to try to piece together who they are, what their mission is, and how to survive given their pasts. Some good humor in there and I like the ship's android character as well - she plays the part well.

I agree with the Firefly comparison. I watched the first year, but not sure why I didn't pick it back up for the 2nd. I may have to give it another look. :)

The special effects are definitely lower-budget at times, but the acting is decent to good most of the time and the characters are engaging.

A friend also recommended The Expanse so I will likely give that a shot as well.

I've been seeing comments from a bunch of fragile-ass 'men' on the internet today, all up in their feelings about the new Doctor... why no comment on KingsFans.com? I thought that there were supposed to be some Doctor Who fans over here?!

When it comes to judging a new Doctor, I have to see him (or her in this case) in the role. The fact that the new Doctor is a woman makes no difference to me. The Master has been a woman for a while and no one has seemed to care.

I have been a Doctor Who fan from the very beginning. I agree with Telemachus. The gender of the actor playing the role makes no difference. It is the writing and the ability of the actor to bring those words to life with his/her own spin while remaining true to the history of the character that matters most. If someone is now refusing to watch because a woman has been cast in the role, they have missed the whole point of the series.

I'm intrigued by Midnight, Texas - Kind of a combination of Grimm, Supernatural, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel. Little surprised, to be honest, to see it on NBC.

Just finished watching this week's episode of Will on TNT. Something totally absurd and yet so appropriate is the scene of young Will Shakespeare in a tavern with fellow players who start off reciting poetry and end up dancing to the lyrics of "Get Up Offa That Thang." Very clever writing and some inspired acting, especially by the actor who portrays Christopher Marlowe, makes this must see TV.

Agreed. One of the things I like best about the show, however, is that it keeps going in directions I did not think possible.

Not sure why I wasn't watching The Last Ship, but I managed to catch up on the whole series just in time to watch the season premiere tonight.

There are times when I'm really jealous about not being able to get Netflix. Then I think about how many additional hours I would need in the day to watch all the stuff I'm interested in and I feel a lot better.

Strong disagree. Defenders was my third-favorite Marvel Netflix series so far, behind Luke Cage season 1, and Jessica Jones season 1.
Jessica Jones was just a bit....weird (?) at times, but I agree that I liked her character in the series. I'm not the target demographic for Luke Cage, but really liked that series. Iron Fist was the weakest of the bunch - generally enjoyed the others for various reasons.

Maybe I just had higher expectations. I rank them JJ, DD 2, DD1, Luke, Defenders, Fist.
I think the biggest issue is they all should have been about 8-10 shows long (like Defenders) instead of what, 13? That would have improved JJ and DD, especially.

Freddie Hightower was incredible as Norman Bates in Bates Motel. He is unbelievable in The Good Doctor, which premiered tonight. What a talented young man.
