@Telemachus
I have not had a cel in almost a decade. Using an old ps3 for now for internet.

I will have to look into Drazen Petrovic.
You must be younger than a lot of posters here. Petrovic unfortunately died in 1993 in a car accident, but he was a damn good SG for a pioneer European playing in the NBA. As I recall because Petrovic was Croatian Vlade did not think kindly of him being Serbian.

my above post got me thinking about Vlade and Drazen. They both played for the Yugoslavian basketball team and were Olympic medalist. They came into the league the same year 1989, unfortunately civil war changed lots. I see there is a documentary called Once Brothers about them, makes me want to watch it.

Actually, I think it was the other way around. Vlade and Petrovic played on the same national team and were good friends. After the war broke out, Petrovic wouldn't talk to Vlade, which hurt Vlade's feelings. At least that's the way I remember it going down at the time. Real shame about Petrovic dying in the accident. Only played three years, but made a huge impact in that short period of time. He was a tough hard nosed player who was a lights out shooter. Reggie Miller once said that Petrovic was the best shooter in the NBA, and that he hated playing against him.

Sorry, I should have read the rest of the posts. I remember watching that documentary a long time ago. I'll have to go and re-watch it. I do remember seeing Petrovic play though. This was a time when the general feeling was that all European players were soft. Petrovic certainly proved them wrong. Nothing soft about that dude.

Another hard nosed European player that helped dispel that soft notion was Sarunas Marciulionis, who played one year with the Kings toward the end of his career. Tough hombre, and good shooter.

My memory was temporally misplaced. I think because Vlade was a Laker perhaps I thought less of him at the time. I'm really glad I watched it, so many good players came from whats now the Balkan countries and they continue to do so.

I enjoyed Marciulionis from Lithuania as well. He came over about the same time and spent most his years with the Warriors but was still a welcome addition latter on with the Kings. Yes, nothing soft about some of these guys.

I just watched Once Brothers and am very glad I did. Also highly recomend it.

There were periods when my family moved a lot when I was growing up, and my main source of basketball came only on the blacktops in various parks. Dragic's NBA time happened during one of these periods. I hate I did not get to see him play then.

Again, highly recomend the documentary. Apologies if I derailed the thread about Bogdan.

I'm glad you did derail the thread, it got me thinking about those days and finally watching the doc corrected a misconception I had of Vlade. Back then I never appreciated Vlade or his skill set since he was a Laker. Drazen I liked. I watched a lot more basketball back then and he was surprisingly good so was real sorry when he died.

CBA permitting I would insist on 5th year if he's in fact going to cost significantly more than a typical rookie. That way we control all his best years.

Here's a nice mix video of Bogdanovic. I see no problems with his ball handling, or his athleticism, other than he's not Fox or Wall. But as SG's go, he's fine.

Watching Bogdan makes me want Ntilinka. I think both Bogdan and Buddy can facilitate a bit. Nitilinka can rotate as well. It just seems like it would open up more minutes for everyone over drafting a smaller PG only type.

I think all of our guards can co exist with each other in the modern NBA. There's plenty of spacing and the size to never really give up to much on D. Ultimately I think Buddy is the sixth man and there's nothing wrong with that. Still a bonafide wing player is a must via draft.

Regular season in Turkish league is over, Fenerbahce clinched first spot. 8 teams are playing in Play-offs, finals are 4-wins-series, and semifinals and quarterfinals are up to 3 wins (i think). They will probably have 2 great matchups in semifinals and finals against Darusafaka and Efes (probably).

Anyway, Euroleague final 4 is their priority... I hope Bogdan will close this season with success.

So the semi-finals are 5 game series and the finals are a 7 game series. So, he has quite a few more games left before his season is over.

Does he have a slow release or am I trippin? I'm no basketball expert so I'm probably trippin lol. Just felt like some of those jumpers might get swatted in the NBA.

Is there a date deadline when we will know if he is coming over? I'm incredibly excited to see Bogdan a King but I'm nervous that he will have lifestyle reasons and roster reasons (Heild) for staying in Europe or forcing a trade.

When will we know for sure?

This summer.
In the most recent article (if you can stomach the Bee), Bogdan says he is still focusing on his current team, not his next team. But he said he wants to play in the NBA. He also praises Pops. And he said something about not wanting to be a bench player in the NBA.
As I've posted before, I'd love to have Bogdan be a King and find success in the NBA. But I'm also concerned that he thinks he's entitled to a starting role before he's played his first NBA minute. Maybe he is and maybe he isn't (entitled). But I'd rather he be a little less entitled and a little more willing to compete for a top-5 role on this team.
