Is Vlade worse than PDA?

#61
Another interesting discussion would be, is Vivek worse than the Maloofs?
Never.

When they were minority owners back in the 90's they were investigating Anaheim, if it wasn't for that Thomas loan we would of likely left town when they bought the team majority.

They never negotiated with us fairly on a new arena, were cheap as could be once it was getting close to moving time.

Vivek may be making horrible mistakes, but I won't call him evil like that.

Apparently FO and other owners were convinced Cousins needed to go a long time ago but Vivek was the one guy stopping that move from happening. The sequence of events starting with flipping of the Warrior fan, getting the two techs vs Chicago and getting suspended and the team subsequently playing hard and blowing out the Celtics opened up a seed of doubt in Vivek and FO pounced and pretty much rushed through process because Vivek could change mind at any moment. I think FO has wanted to move Cousins at any cost and getting Hield(a Vivek darling) got them the ok.

They're the same person. Neither has the spine to stand up to an owner who is ruining the franchise he helped to save. Until someone has the spine to stand up to Vivek it's just a procession of different iterations of the same spineless yes man.

Then people should be in a bidding war right now, everyone knowing he's going to get traded.

Not even close to the deadline yet!

I think Vlade and FO thought the longer this dwelled and the more time Vivek would have to take on the public reaction and perception the likelier it would be that Vivek would have a change of heart. If you listen to the Woj podcast even he and Bobby Marks believe the Kings could not have done much better. I think the baggage surrounding Cousins is much bigger than most on here would like to believe and FO literally just wanted him removed from the team and would take best offer available. In the Lowe podcast they talk about Boogie bullying Stauskas day after day and threatening to fight him on a plane. Your superstar trying to fight a rook on the team plane. Like what the hell could Stauskas have done to get that? Not a good look, and I think there are probably a lot of stories like that with other players.

Does it really matter who is worse? At the end of it all, look at who hired these two. Prior to being hired, PDA was a analytics guru. Prior to being hired, Vlade had zero front office experience. What did you all expect to happen? This is not surprising in the very least. We all wanted to be optimistic about Vlade when he arrived because he was a fan favorite in his playing days and all we could do at that point was hope that he would learn along the way. Unfortunately learning along the way hasn't done much for this franchise and it's back to Ground Zero again with a fresh, clean slate. I'm scared to death now more than I have been ever before about drafting anything relevant with these picks as long as Vlade is here. I'm not sure how much longer he has here, at any given time, day, month, year...Vivek can decide he has had enough and that is the end of it. The two general managers hired by Vivek were hired for a reason...to be his puppet. Nothing more, nothing less. Follow orders, do as your told, you have a job. Are you any good at your job? doesn't matter? are you a yes man? come on board. Hire whoever you want, but when you don't do your homework prior to hiring someone with that much responsibility and then also meddle in the decision making, well...it's a endless loop.

So in reading around I see that Denver/PHX and others had much better packages of picks or players but our owners infatuation with Buddy freakin Heild kept us from taking those packages.

This is our tank commander folks.

If they like Hield better than the other prospects then what's so wrong with that? They got the young player they wanted. You can argue against their perception of him but there were rumblings about their serious interest in Hield prior to the draft too.

This is so dumb. The Kings are going to give up more to stupidly not stretch Landry and Thompson than they are going to get for trading Cousins. And folks act like either decision or the Malone thing are remotely passable or normal.

If you want more of this crazy, that's your right. But acting like it's not crazy or part of a coherent plan is a farce.

got them the ok.
So now it's all starting to ooze out. Vivek was embarrassed in front of his Warriors friends. Boo-freaking-hoo.

I personally love the incident with Warriors fans and dig that Cuz still has that high school edge wherein he hates his team's rivals. How freaking awesome would it have been to have Cousins during the Kings-Lakers rivalry circa 1998 - 2004?

I think the baggage surrounding Cousins is much bigger than most on here would like to believe
Not it's not. But that's what these cagey GM's wanted Vlade to believe so they could fleece him. They used all the negative BS to bluff the less experienced and in over his head GM. It worked.

Someone mentioned on twitter that the nuggets got more 1st round picks for Mozgov than we got for Cousins. Something's not right here. Vlade & Vivek need to come clean & tell us what really happen. How the hell did they screw this up so badly.
There are people on this board who know this stuff like the back of their hand so would somebody compare the draft equity in the two trades?

Nuggets got Memphis #1 protected, OKC #1 protected, and a late second I think

Kings get Pels #1 protected and 76ers #2 in a rich draft.

Which is a better cache of picks? Have Nuggets used theirs yet?

They got the player they wanted. Regardless of your opinion of that players value what they did was far from crazy because they had every intent in doing it. Now if they thought they were getting back equal value, or have some unrealistic expectation about it, that's a different story but it still has to be proven out.

It seems like Vivek wanted someone with no experience that he could boss around. No sensible general manager in professional sports would trade away player like Boogie for nothing. Of course it goes deeper than that as well. This city loved DeMarcus and the Kings treated him like absolute garbage! What in gods name were these idiots thinking?

denver ended up trading those picks away. the okc one to philly that ended up being the 26th pick. the memphis one to the blazers in the nurkic/plumlee trade. its top 5 protected this year but grizz are prob making playoffs so itll prob be in the 20s

Vlade, I know you have no clue of what you're doing, it's ok, I understand now. Just a little advice to make your life a little easier. Before accepting a trade, check it on NBA 2k17. If it doesn't work, don't do it. I know it's not a professional way to do business, but it's a huge improvement in this management's decision making.

Remember when Vlade decided not to fire Karl, after a 5 min conversation where they decided that they needed to play better defense?
Not to mention signing his friend's son to an NBA contract, the 4 year college backup.
I thought maybe Vlade's media interactions were a mix of sandbagging and a language gap, but I realize now he really is just a big doofus.

Sounds like Vivek wanted nothing to do with trading Cousins and was loyal to him.

Vlade wanted to ship him out and Vivek said no to all offers because he didn't feel like they were strong enough. Vlade knew that he could get the deal done by coming to him with Hield since he knew Hield would be the dangling carrot that Vivek would start chasing after.

Vivek is so damn predictable. He would give up Draymond Green for anyone with a 38% 3 point shot.
