Well, no better place than here to put some highlights from Vlade's interview with Grant.

(Yes, I'm subjecting myself to that torture)

My guess is he thanks Vlade on behalf of all Kings fans, and tells him what a brave man he is for making such a decision. GAG ME.

GN: "Why?"

VD: "Winning starts with culture"

GN: "Why didn't you take the better offer."

VD: "They pulled the offer, they got scared."

DC: "Was everyone on board?"

VD: "Basketball decision, this is the best time; the best deal, best for the future."

DC: "What made this so urgent it needed to happen now"

VD: "The further we go, we'll lose more and more value."

GN: "This is now your team. People are confused, when can people start evaluating you as a GM?"

VD: "Uhhhm, They can evaluate my job from day one. I try to do everything to make our team better not just for now, but for the future. Not just for the 8 spot, but for a championship team. :::names kids::: lots of hope coming forward. This upcoming draft is deep.

DC: "What style do you envision."

VD: "Play hard, have fun, share ball, play the right way. Just play like you played against the Celtics. Confident I'm bringing in talent and personalities to help everyone. In a few years we can be proud of our team."

GN: "To many 2-guards, Bogdan can play SF."

VD: "Positions don't matter in today's game. Players can slide to different positions."

vlade sounds like a bad liar. some of the stuff he says doesnt even make sense. now hes back tracking on the better offer statement. he said it wasnt a deal, it was an offer. he was never given a chance to even accept the offer. that doesnt even make sense. did they hang up mid sentence when offering the deal? if he doesnt need anyones approval to make deals then how can he not accept the offer that was made. sounds like he was called out on the better offer statement and is now revising it.

My god we traded a hall of gamer cause we won 1 game without him. I'm at a loss of words I remember the trade dmc jokes after that game too.

Notice how in his interview earlier, he would often self correct "we" to "I". Clearly Vivek told him to take all the blame because he's paying him to. There much more to this debacle. I hope somehow it all leaks out.

GN: "You just traded the Kings best player, your biggest move. Was this hard?"

VD: "Yeah. Wasn't easy. Worked hard to explore every angle. I needed to make a decision. Go with DMC or go a different way. I wish him all the best."

GN: You've been getting lots of criticism, does that bother you?

VD: Is lie if I said no. But I'm confident people will be proud in the future.

DC: Define the culture going forward.

VD: Hardwork, fun, represent city and organization the way you'd represent your family. We're professionals we play basketball, that's all I want to see.

GN: Is that why you released Barnes?

VD: That's one of the reasons.

DC: You still looking for moves?

VD: Of course, always looking to improve team.

GN: Woj tweeting you didn't call other GMa back.

VD: Like who? That's just ridiculous. I'm going to do what makes sense for me and what makes my team better. Agents have their own agendas.

DC: There weren't a lot of offers for DMC?

VD: People got scared, I looked for the best deal for us.

Oh my, this fool really evaluated the team based on 1 game we won without Boogie. He ignored the actual win/loss record of the team with and without Cousins during these years.

Someone needs to call him out more. If character matters, why were you willing to offer $209 million to Cuz a week ago?

I know the hate for Vlade is real right now but after mulling it over for a few hours I'm starting to talk myself off the ledge. Vlade is doing what he thinks is right for the franchise and we have to put ourselves in his shoes. The truth is that we over valued Cousins market right now. We should have traded him earlier but we all have to remember most of us were advocating keeping him for the long haul. It took balls for Vlade to make this move and ultimately I think it will be for the best, as dissapointed as I am. It will be exciting to watch our young guys scrap and hustle.

GN: A lot of people have a problem with your comment to Stein.

VD: I really believed that, because I didn't have an offer and people wouldn't talk about it. I got an offer and had to act fast. The value wasn't there.

DC: is there something you can say "I've learned something from this process."

VD: Not to trust agents.

DC: You wear your heart on your sleeve, and people use that. You're gonna do a damn good job in time.

VD: They go behind my back and try to kill the deal. What are you gonna do?

GN: How are you looking at the rest of the season.

VD: I understand some fans are upset. DMC played his heart out, but I did the right thing for the future. Play hard have fun. Try to be contenders this season, that would be my dream come true. Not focused on pick we might lose, if we get it good.

GN: Where is Bogdan in this draft?

VD; Top 15 for sure.

CD: We gonna see Skal and PapaG?

VD: I'll talk to coach. I want to see these guys play. They can play to develop.

GN: Final message to fans.

VD: winning stars with Culture. Had to be addressed, this focused on locker room culture which is needed to win. Not happy with 8 spot, wants chance to win championship.

LOL, you can't make this stuff up. "Like who?" & "People got scared".

HAhahahahaha. At least he's making us laugh in the middle of this situation.

No Vlade, YOU got scared. They just played you.

Sounds like he is blaming Cousins agent for killing the first deal and trying to kill the second deal. If only....

Vlade is really being paid to learn the job. He is no better at negotiating than any high school student. From these comments, he is barely finding out that agents will lie and pull strings behind the scenes to protect their clients and their own pocket. How can you barely be learning this and be a GM?

I believe Vlade is a good man, so I agree with the bolded. What I wonder is A) Does Vlade actually know what's right for the franchise? and B) Is Vlade capable of doing what's right for the franchise?

Right now, I'm shaking my head 'no' at the first question, and aggressively shaking my head 'no' at the second question.

That's because it's hard to think and talk when you've got someone else calling the shots. The man behind the curtain is, was and always will be Vivek.

Are you all aware of the fact that we also waived Matt Barnes yesterday, so we are now officially with 0 SFs?
  • Gay
  • Casspi
  • Barnes
Good work, Vlade!
