Down four guys and another point guard and yet the Kings win. I guess the Celtics just hadn't prepared for the appearance of Point Barnes.

The View From the Other Side
The following has been taken from CelticsBlog.com. Enjoy that typical New England sports fan hubris.

Cs better blow this one open early. I am kind-of worried for IT's scoring average, though - he should be getting lots of rest!

10:21
So on paper this should be our easiest game of the year right?

11:18
In case Papagiannis gets mins, I'm rly interested to see what he can do.

Although I do not expect much, even taking in consideration he is a rookie.

11:29
We have destroyed them at full strength, Cousin's being in would not make me bat an eye! It has been easy with him, the only way this will be a fight is if we sleep on them. Any team can beat you on any day but I'm not worried that they will.

My bad we destroyed them last season. I thought we whooped them this season but only won by 5... maybe we got up big and let down? I remembered it as a double-digit win but I was dead wrong.

6:56
Man...Is this ever a trap game.

10:12
I.T is quietly close to joining the 50,40,90 club

.470, .385, .91

Would be huge if he could get there by seasons end

10:48
Hopefully this is a blowout. No Cousins for SAC and the defensive rotations have looked good thus far.

10:51
Al looking good so far.

All those days off seems to have done us good. We look energetic.

10:54
I'm really loving how much the Kings are complimenting Isaiah. I'm streaming from the Kings announcing, and they can't but say great things about IT. Gosh, and to think we got him for literally nothing.

10:57
Love IT

he is one of the worst defender's I have ever seen in my life

10:59
Amir has missed the final end of at least 3 fast break layups. I dont think we're locked in tonight.

11:01
Yup.....Kings suck , they rely on Boogie totally to carry them.

Kings could not beat Maine Red Claws without Boogie

11:03
Nice pass by Cauly-Stein, he'd look good in green....

11:03
Kings moving the ball really nice

Amazing things happen when a black hole superstar isnt playing.

11:04
Back to Rozier's terrible point guard skills off the bench and Marcus off the ball for some inexplicable reason.

11:13
Nice pass by Kelly to Brown.

Brown is still way too wild in transition obviously, but I'm honestly glad he's getting a chance to make these mistakes. Good learning opportunities. He's going to be a terror in transition eventually.

11:14
JB is proving his ESPN ranking wrong.

11:18
Yea, Jaylen should definitely start over Bradley

11:18
Barnes looks like psycho

11:19
Rain drop
Drop top
Celtics keep on giving up easy shots.

11:22
Al getting burned out on the perimeter by a stretch 4. What else is new? lol

11:25
Anyone gonna complain about the tech? I sure am

11:27
Hmm, it's almost like letting our terrible bench go out there and give them momentum isn't a good idea.

11:27
Celtics getting burned by a scrub. Embarrassing effort tonight.

11:28
McLemore looking like Ray Allen out there.

11:30
Instead of taking the advantage to blow them out early so we can rest guys for tomorrow's game we had to make it a ****ing competition by playing down to them. Smh.

11:31
"If we keep bombing 3s at it, it will eventually die"

Celtics 2017 philosophy.

11:37
We should be blowing this freakin' team out lol.

11:38
smh tied game and their missing their whole starting line up.

11:38
No cousins, no gay, and now no lawson. And we're tied.

Sigh.

11:41
Guy, even if we're playing bad - Trust I.T - no way he will let us down.

11:44
Looks like Isaiah is on pace for 44 today.

11:46
The kings stadium looks empty...

11:57
Isaiah getting hacked out there

11:57
what is going on here... Celtics.

11:59
If Tolliver and Afflalo played against the rest of the league like they always play against us, no matter what team they're on, they would be all-NBA?

WTH?

12:02
Amir and Smart hitting threes to put us back in the game. Of course that's what happens.

12:02
Smart comes into the game and we start playing better. Coincidence?

12:04
Hahahaha I just heard a fan in the background screaming COME BACK ISAIAH!!!

12:10
Good Lord, why is Rozier playing? He just banked that shot off the opposite side of the backboard.

12:11
They should really consider trading Cousins (to us
). They play really good without him.

12:11
And now back-to-back threes from Matt freakin' Barnes. Lovely.

12:12
A terrible 3 pt shooter like Barnes suddenly teared it up. Coincidence? I think not.

12:12
WAKE UP YOU MORONS

12:14
This is just awful

12:15
Awful quarter. Good thing we're entering Isaiah's realm.

12:16
I hope this put to rest the silly suggestion of Jaylen starting in place of a healthy Bradley.

12:18
SERIOUSLY?!? MATT BARNES AGAIN?!??

These guys are trying to give me a heart attack.

12:21
Woah - Brad puts in one of our two stars (IT and Al) to play with the bench and we go on a run! Go figure!

It's not rocket science, Brad.

12:27
It's great that they're losing to a bunch of has-beens and journeymen. Good grief.

12:28
This is ridiculous. Team just thought they'd come in and run right through the Kings without Boogie. Entitled.

12:28
This is bad.

12:29
Well the one upside is this cant possibly get any worse from here.

12:31
This does not feel like a game we're going to win.

12:33
At least Sac will get on notice that they play better without boogie, so they can sell it cheap to Boston.

12:34
Terrible. Just all around terrible. Every single one of their players is outplaying our guys

12:35
This is the most pathetic performance of the year by far

12:35
This is a reeaaaallllly bad loss.

12:36
Now we're getting embarrassed by a scrub team.

There are just times when this team is absolutely entitled and isn't anywhere near the level that they think they are. Tonight is one of those nights.

12:37
This is why every one is trade-bait.

12:41
That's a bad shot, IT.

12:42
Collison has ate up IT on both ends tonight. Been the far superior player and really took advantage of IT's terrible D.

12:43
Matt Barnes may have threatened these referees or something./ Not sure how else to explain how he has been called down this entire stretch of the game.

12:44
Man Cauley stein p---es me off. He so uncoordinated and his jumper is so ugly ughhhhh

12:52
The sky is falling. The sky is falling.

12:56
Wretched. "Only" one game, I know. But still wretched. And weak. Very weak.

12:56
hey maybe this game convinces Vivek the Kings are better sans Cousins?

5:51
Maybe we lost on purpose to make the Kings believe they are better without Cousins

Playing the Hawks may turn into a Pacman game, if we're not carefull...

Actually, that may be a good thing, as the image puts us as one of the four hungry ghosts, out to eat HawkPacman
(Inky, Pinky, Blinky and Clyde #Kangz)... :D

Hah, when I saw it was Celtics fans I knew I was in for a laugh.

-Oh, now they want Willie too? Then again, they think everyone looks good in green.

-"Black hole superstar". Yes, because IT is so well known for ball movement. Let's be completely honest here.

-Knew the Cousins trade talk was coming.

-Speaking of that, why are we supposed to want Rozier again?

Yes, that was what he promised! :)
I don't think so. Omri hoped to be back by tonight but there's been no mention of it anywhere I could find. The latest injury report says he's expected to be out until at least Feb. 12. They are not going to rush him back at this point. Right now, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him stay out until after the All-Star break.

With Hawks coming to Sacramento, and having some spare time, decided to watch Nuggets at Hawks, that happened 2 days ago:

  • Hawks are not that good defensively, but they limit turnovers and have quick guards, which leads to very good transition defense, so they have low FG% allowed just by denying high percentage shots to the other team.
  • Dwight is pretty active with his elbows, so putting WCS is a very bad idea as too much physicality is allowed to Howard
  • Schroeder is still not good shooting off the dribble from beyond the arc, but if you allow him within 15-18 feet, he's almost automatic
  • Baze looks like he feels obligated to prove, he's worth his new contract, and tries to create occasionally. If he tries today, I say, let him as often as possible
  • Hardaway Jr example shows, how teams can utilize hyper-athletic guards, who can shoot, but can't create for themselves: run them off of screens like everybody does, but every 10 possessions make them cut for an oop. Simple recipe, but works wonderfully. My guess would be, that Hawks is most likely summer destination for Ben.
  • Bembry has shown, that quick long guard can get by without shooting, if he has handles, defense and motor. Some teams will make him unplayable, but at least he's a solid contributor already unlike shooting Taurean Prince
  • Dirtleavy is now on the Hawks roster now, so I would be hyper-vigilant, when he gets on the floor for his 3 minutes: managed to take out Faried in his limited minutes
  • Almost everyone on that roster can shoot, if they get the ball looking at the basket/have time to set up, so better not leave those guys open for more than 1.5-2 seconds. Make them create
  • Denver is pretty good offensively, but they have huge defensive problems. Malone as per his mantra has one of the best rebounding teams in the league, but D is just not feasible with this roster, when you center rotation is Jokic/Nurkic/Faried/Arthur. If they get into POs, it will be 4 fun 110-130 games vs Warriors.
  • Wilson Chandler would be a great acquisition for these Kings, if they miraculously could pull it off

Tonight will be tough, Atlanta will NOT take us lightly and they will be trying to push the big fella's buttons all night. BUT if the Kings an keep their defensive focus, share the ball and help on the boards then we ought to be just fine. The good news is that since despite managements best efforts the Hawks are still a pretty good team and we have been rising to the occasion against good teams.
