DMC: "What’s the right thing to say (to Gay)? None of us have dealt with that before. None of us know the pain he’s dealing with."
Is Gay our Final Sacrifice? Is that how this story goes? Does Rudy become the reason this team unites and makes a push?

Our saga is so epic, I don't put this past the Will of the Basketball Gods.

Fight for your fallen brother, comrades!

It's a nice thought, but 41 games to go ... that's a long time to survive on guts and willpower. There are long road trips and multiple back-to-backs to come. Other teams will be making deadline deals to bolster their rosters. Are there any teams we can look down on in terms of overall talent at this point? We play Brooklyn one more time. Other than that I don't see any games which can be considered a "should win". Maybe Orlando at home. We've seen what this roster can do already. We're 11th in the West by record. By Point Differential we rank 11th in the West as well. And we accomplished that with Rudy averaging 19 pts per game for 31 out of 41 games. With Rudy Gay out our #2 scorer is now Darren Collison at 12.8 points per game. Nobody else is even in double digits. Cousins is our leading assist man at 4.4 per game and our leading rebounder at 10.1 per game. He has no help out there. On the other hand, we do have 3 wild cards -- Malachi, Skal, and Georgios. We haven't had a chance to see what they can do yet. We should also get an injury grievance to sign another player to take Rudy's roster spot. I wouldn't call it impossible, but it would take almost a miracle.

I remember when Vlade made the Sixers trade the narrative was "calm down, the Sixers will be garbage for years and we are pushing for the playoffs". Guess what the pick swap looks like it will convey THIS YEAR. Jesus Christ.
The scary thing is the 76ers have been banged up way more with injury this year than the Kings have

It's a bad injury for Gay, but it's not like this team has been winning with him. Gay has a history of injuries so why should we expect differently this year? Should have traded him months ago. The prior post about Vivek's attitude toward Gay is symptomatic of his ownership.

This team's record is worse at the half-way mark than last year's team, which had the bad HOFer coach, the bad running style (pace! pace!), and a different cast of mediocre vets surrounding Cousins. All that change has led to a worse result and possibly the disastrous loss of a lottery pick. It all comes down to the decisions of upper management and ownership. It all comes down to judgment. You just wonder if they keep doing the same dumb things that got them to this lousy position. They are truly in dumb-dumb loop and at this point the only reason I'm watching is to see if they can wake up and get out of it.

Get Hinkie in here the 76ers are going to be thriving cause of him and they got a ton of assets to trade for a star like Jimmy Butler and there team actually imo will become a FA spot for above average FA's who can see the potential of Embid/Simmons and company.

Sadly everything Karl said about the Kings is coming true from not wanting to play WCS to the how awful the FO is.

Actually that was one of the best halves I saw the Kings play this season. The Ball was moving great, Cousins was efficient, we didn't make too many mistakes in the first, rebounding was much improved, defense was really good.
Outside of DMC not hitting his shots - what happened in the second half? Can somebody explain to me, why our gameplan wasn't working anymore? Suddenly the ball was sticking once again, we were inefficient on offense and that led to many easy baskets for the Pacers.
Ok Rudy's injury is a possible explanation. But this isn't the first game, where it's really a tale of two halves for the Kings. This team plays great for stretches, only to always take a step back to this horrible 1vs1 inefficient ISO show we are so used to and losing games by doing it.
Why not move the ball like we did in the first half for the entire game? Is it a mindset thing, a conditioning issue, the opponent making adjustments? I don't get it right now.

should have traded Rudy 2-3 weeks ago, now the franchise will have to deal with the consequences this year and next year.

I say the Kings should tank, need to keep our lottery pick in a good draft. Sucks Philly is playing better now so they might swap picks.

Good thing you know what was being offered 3 weeks ago.

Probably both. Indiana played a really really bad 2.5 quarters too. They were awful. Teague looked like a scrub.

You're right, I don't. However, it's known that Rudy was likely not staying past this year. If reports of interest from OKC for Payne were true, I don't know why we decided to wait so long.

It doesn't matter now, a) Rudy walks in FA and the Kings get nothing back or b) Rudy stays and there's little cap room for next year. Either way, it's a bad situation for the franchise.

If reports of Payne interest were true, we waited so long because Payne was not healthy.

Or...how about being unhappy and demanding better? This is Sacramento's team! Vivek might own it but he lives off of us buying tickets and going to games.
Actually no he doesn't.

This hatred of Vivek by some Kings fans just astounds me. Yes, he's made mistakes but who hasn't? If it were not for Vivek Randadive, we wouldn't have a team and we wouldn't have a brand new arena. He appears to learn from his mistakes and that's all I ask of any human being.

Not just that. players like McConnell, Covington, Ilyasova & Saric aren't exactly world beaters, but they compliment their franchise player and play defense as a collective unit.
